What is the lore behind Bogstick in Fortnite?

Bogstick is a rather unique character in Fortnite. Many would assume that they are related to Fishstick, but that's far from the scenario. It would appear that they are a remake, or perhaps twisted version of the character. Bogstick even uses a unique model that is just for them. According to their in-game description, Bogstick is a fish-like creature that lives in the mire or bog, which is quite in contrast to Fishstick and his numerous snapshots.

Bogstick's official description as seen in-game reads, "In the bog there lived a fish. In the fish there lived a bog. The fish and the bog were always together. Where does the fish end and the bog begin? The bog knows. The bog knows all."

It is rather unclear what Epic Games was trying to convey, but by the looks of it, Bogstick is a creature of perhaps dark origin. However, this does not mean that they are associated with any evil or villain faction within the Metaverse. They merely exist in the confines of reality.

The character was also featured on the island as an NPC back in Chapter 4 Season 4 at Sunswoon Lagoon. Players could interact with them to purchase weapons and consumables. That said, the character is not part of the lore that is related to the ongoing storyline. This could change in the future, but for now, they are merely an in-game cosmetic.
