What is the lore behind Trench Trawler in Fortnite?

Despite Trench Trawler being a very cool character in-game, he is not associated with the storyline. Hence, there is hardly any lore behind the character. The only thing that can be said with absolution is that he is the guardian of the coast and the shining light of the night. 

This is owing to the fact that the character’s design likely takes inspiration from a lighthouse and perhaps a buoy as well. His eyes glow a dim yellow tint hinting at his ability to see clearly at night. His official in-game description reads, “Strange secrets sleep deep beneath the waves.” 

Judging on his description, it could be possible that he secretly guards the waters from threats that go undetected by the island dwellers. Epic Games may include him in the storyline in the future, but for now, he is nothing more than a character that can be used in-game.
