What is the lore behind Skeletara in Fortnite?

While there is no official lore behind Skeletara in Fortnite, she is considered by many to be a spooky snapshot of the OG Renegade Raider. Since both the characters use the same model, it makes sense to label them as such. However, it is unclear which reality Skeletara comes from. Since she was introduced during Fortnitemares 2021, it can only be assumed that she is from a reality where characters have a spooky appearance. Her official description reads, “Lightly irradiated for maximum destruction.”

Although she is rather popular and has been so for a very long time, she is yet to play a part in the storyline. As with all characters released during Fortnitemares, she too, is likely bound to remain a cosmetic entity. There are few exceptions to the rule, but even those characters do not play a major role in the storyline. That said, Skeletara seems to be designed taking inspiration from irradiated ghouls from the Fallout franchise.

Perhaps in the future Skeletara will play some role in the events that shape the storyline, but for the time being, this is the extent of her involvement in things. On that note, she would make for the perfect Fortnitemares NPC. Given her appearance, she would fit right into a spooky-themed season or event. Hopefully, Epic Games takes this into consideration if nothing else. She could even serve as an NPC Boss that players could take on in a fight to earn loot.
