Sami Khedira slams EA Sports over facial features in FIFA 18

EA Sports' FIFA game has evolved but not Sami Khedira's hair.

Previews - UEFA Champions League Final

Sami Khedira's appearance has not changed since FIFA 16!

What's the story?

Sami Khedira has jokingly slammed FIFA for their obsession with his long hair. He took his anger to Twitter by alleging FIFA of neglecting his hair change over the last couple of years. EA Sports spends a lot in developing graphics of the game, which is why it has been known for its scintillating graphics and real-looking player faces. And even the criticism EA has faced has mostly been due to its or over-rating or under-rating of a player, but this Sami Khedira scrutiny has given a different dimension to it.

The heart of the matter

Fans gave a mixed response to Sami Khedira's tweet. Some people even asked him to switch to PES, as he looks quite sleak in PES!

EA Sports have still not replied to the German star's plea, and even if they would reply, there is no assurity of his appearance being changed before the arrival of FIFA 19! Sami Khedira is not a player who's face changes or player stats are much awaited before the release of the game which can be one the main reasons for FIFA to not put much time on his appearance.

What's next?

EA might be gearing up for a sarcastic reply like the one it gave to Mitchy Batshuayi or else an affirmation of an improvement in the next edition. However, this tweet by the German star has ensured that FIFA will now onwards take care of the appearances of the players that are not of Ronaldo or Messi's level.

Author's Take

It would be great to see Sami Khedira's face improvements in the earliest FIFA patch or edition. Sami has always been one of the best central midfielders in the game and he should get utmost respect for that in the FIFA game. Also, he should try PES, as they make him look like a 24-year old which he would surely love. But for now, we all will be waiting for EA to reply and to make amends.
