PSN status still offline, Xbox Live facing connectivity issues

Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gamers still face connectivity issues

PSN and Xbox Live are facing connectivity issues for the third time this week. The notorious Lizard Squad had promised to play Christmas Grinch by attacking the networks during Christmas week but ceased their attacks after Kim Dot Com intervention. Dot Com promised the group lifetime vouchers for Mega Privacy because he wanted to play Destiny on Xbox Live.

Xbox Live and PSN were up and running once again after the Lizard Squad had stopped their attacks. A number of players were able to log back in, but this wasn’t for long and again PSN went down for a third time this week. Xbox Live has also been facing some connectivity issues with many Xbox One owners reporting that they are having a hard time logging into Xbox Live.

The Xbox Live status page has reported that the connection will not be good for Xbox One owners and joining others via multiplayer as well as buying items from the Marketplace will be limited. However, according to the official website, the Xbox One seems to be only console affected.

PSN’s status, on the other hand, still shows “offline” according to the official PlayStation website. PSN seems to be hit the worst with the service being down for 5 hours earlier this week and over 12 hours on the 25th. The network is currently offline as of now.

And this does not seem to be the handy work of The Lizard Squad either who has confirmed in their Twitter account that they are no longer attacking Xbox Live or PSN. So it’s possible that the networks are down due to maintenance to prevent this kind of attack in the future. The Ask PlayStation Twitter page posted that the engineers are now working to restore the full network services on all platforms:

Hopefully, PSN goes online soon so the engineers can finally enjoy their Holidays and gamers can get back to their game.
