Key fixtures that could effect the league standings

In what seems to be one of the most competitive season in the English Premier League, with seven teams in contention for top honours, the stage has been set as we await a cracker of a showdown. Just with ten games to go, all the teams are pumped up to give their best, some hoping to make it to the coveted champions league spot, some the Europa league and some trying to stay in the league itself.

Of all the remaining fixtures, these would be the table turning ones:

Mar21: Man City vs Chelsea

With City trailing United by four points, with a game in hand, this would have to be a very important game to be back in contention for first place. But the game is as important for the Londoners, as even though they’re the only team still playing in Europe, they know how significant it is to qualify for the high profile tournament next season.

Mar21: Everton vs Arsenal

This rivalry is sure to simmer with Arteta going back to his former club for the game and Everton will be looking to dent Arsenal’s race for the third place.

Mar24: Chelsea vs Tottenham

If you are an Arsenal fan, this is one match you wouldn’t want to miss. With both the clubs fighting for the third and fourth place for the gunners, there is no doubt on the significance of this one. The winner would surely leave the other behind with the final games approaching.

Mar24: Bolton vs Blackburn

Sitting at the sixteenth and seventeenth positions on the table, the two clubs don’t look that pretty as each would try to push the other down towards the relegation zone.

Mar24: Stoke vs Man City

Looking at this fixture, you’d think “Why this of all matches?” Well that is what the Britannia stadium has become and they’re very good party spoilers at home. With a packed defense and a noisy crowd, the Citizens will have a tough fight ahead.

Mar 31: Aston Villa vs Chelsea

Though Chelsea seem to be gaining momentum, you would have to say they still don’t have an experienced manager at their helm and to play at villa park, that would be a big negative.

Mar31: Wolves vs Bolton

With Wolves sitting at the bottom of the table and Bolton placed just above the relegation spots, the former would have to do all they can using the home fixture to their advantage as they try to claw up.

Apr1: Newcastle vs Liverpool

As both the teams are more or less out of contention for a Champions league spot, a flawless performance in the remaining games with the others failing to win, could see them move up the table. But the team that loses this fixture, can surely have no hopes for a Europa spot.

Apr1: Tottenham vs Swansea

Though the North Londoners are up 3rd on the table with teams lurking right behind them, their current run of form along with Swansea’s mind blowing performances, makes it an exciting encounter.

Apr7: Norwich vs Everton

With the newly promoted club doing pretty well, there would be no better ending than to finish in the top half of the table for them. This fixture make the difference.

Apr8: Arsenal vs Man City

City somehow scraped through after beating the gunners by a goal the last time these two met in the league, but this time Arsenal would do all that they can do to win, not only for revenge, but because every game matters for them in the race for the 3rd place.

Apr 9: Fulham vs Chelsea

At Craven Cottage, Fulham are a different team and what lies in this fixture will be a mixed bag of surprises.

Apr 14: Chelsea vs Newcastle

Being played at Stamford bridge, Chelsea do have the upperhand, plus Newcastle’s run of form would support that statement. But, with Demba Ba upfront, anything is possible.

Apr21: Arsenal vs Chelsea

After the humiliating defeat at the hands of Arsenal at the Bridge, Chelsea will be looking for revenge, but winning at the Emirates is always a tough job. A potential champions league spot decider.

Apr28: Stoke vs Arsenal

The gunners will have a difficult task at their hands as they take on Stoke because the club can be pretty dangerous at times on their pitch.

Apr30: Man City vs Man Utd

There is no doubt on how big this fixture is. But people have doubts whether the table would be as close as it is now, in the end of April, but if it is, then this is the match the blue half of Manchester would be looking forward to. Being played at the Etihad stadium, this could be the title deciding fixture. Losers go home empty handed!

May6: Would be a big day, with tough fixtures all around and being the second last fixture of the season, all teams will come out all guns ablaze.Villa vs Tottenham and Liverpool vs Chelsea will decide who’s going to end in the top five and who’s not, while Newcastle vs City could be a party spoiler for the latter club. Also, Blackburn and Wigan would be a relegation fight to stay afloat.

May 13: Tottenham vs Fulham

On the last day of the season, with all teams being handed relatively easier fixtures, the spurs would be taking on the Whites, which won’t be a very easy task and just as Fulham created problems till the last minute of the game against their North London rivals, there could be something in store for them too.

No one can predict what lies in store, who would end up on top and who would go out, but one thing is for sure,We have a season on our hands!
