Olympic Gold Quest Introduces 'Video Analytical Solutions' for its Athletes

While some National Sports Federations are bothered about their own power and position, one non-profit organization “Olympic Gold Quest” governed by a group of former athletes are leaving no stone unturned to increase India’s Medal haul in the World’s most prestigious sporting event – Olympic Games.

Olympic Gold Quest on Wednesday launched a new website for digital marketing platform and also announced about providing its athletes video analytical solutions while hiring Kazakh masseur Kassenova Kacehoba specifically for its shooters.

The new website for the organization’s digital marketing is designed by a Chennai based company Xerago. Speaking about the new project, the CEO of Olympic Gold Quest Viren Rasquinha said, “Xerago is also helping us with an entire digital marketing platform and we will also be extensively engaging sports fans through Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter.”

The Geet Sethi and Prakash Padukone founded organization also announced their tie up with Sports Technology Company, Sports Mechanics. Sports Mechanics specializes in providing high-performance video analytical solutions to athletes. Rasquinha was upbeat about the introduction of this technology to Olympic Gold Quest’s athletes and confident that it will help the athletes in their built-up for the London 2012 Olympics.

“We will kick-start the expert video analysis program by sports mechanics by extending performance analytics to badminton player Saina Nehwal to increase her chances of winning a medal at the Olympics. This program would be extended to other OGQ athletes also in due course,” said the former India International.

“Having played a competitive fast paced sport like hockey myself, I believe that expert video analysis is definitely required to give our athletes an ‘extra edge’ and to provide competitive intelligence to them. Sports Mechanics will be churning out intelligence about Saina’s game as well as her opponent’s games with the help of videos and data,” added Rasquinha.

Rasquinha also spoke about OGQ’s decision to hire Kazakh masseur Kassenova Kacehoba for the shooters, as there are no masseurs in India having the experience of working with shooters. On the recommendation of Indian Rifle Coach Stanislav Lapidus and some players, OGQ went ahead and sought the services of the professional masseur as she understands the nuances of the sport, having worked extensively with shooters before.

Rasquinha also announced to the press that the organization would be extending the service of peak performance and mental strength coach Abha Maryada Banerjee to four athletes across Badminton, Boxing and Archery in their preparation for securing an Olympics medal.

The former Indian Hockey captain praised the trainer, “Abha Maryada Banerjee has done phenomenal work with rifle shooter Sanjeev Rajput in the last few months which helped him win the World Cup Gold medal recently, a performance which secured him an Olympic berth.

Lastly Rasquinha clarified about their latest recruit boxer Manoj Kumar who won gold in the CWG and impressed the OGQ team with his dedication and focus. “Manoj has to first concentrate on the Olympic qualification but we believe that he has the ability to be an Olympic champion.” He added, “For our boxers, our physiotherapists and nutritionist will play the most important role.”
