Shaolin soccer for Rio Ferdinand and Lampard?

Chinese Super League clubs, Guizhou Renhe and Shanghai Shenhua are clearly trying to outdo each other by setting unrealistic targets for themselves. According to latest reports Guizhou went a step further by announcing their interest in Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand after their counterparts signed Nicholas Anelka from Chelsea recently.

The Chinese clubs appear to be treating Stamford Bridge as a garage sale as Shanghai Shenhua are also trying to reunite Didier Drogba with his former partner Anelka at the club. To manage these colourful personalities, an equally colorful personality, Jose Mourinho is being scouted by Shanghai.

While Guizhou are interested in offering Lampard and Ferdinand £250,000-a-week each.

“I want the best team in China and we are prepared to invest a lot of money to bring Ferdinand and Lampard to us,” club chairman Wang Guolin told The Sun newspaper. “Many people here watch the Premier League and know how good the two players are.”
