About England vs Scotland 2018

Scotland will face neighbours England in a one-off one day international at Edinburgh in the summer of 2018. The rivalry between the two countries is well documented in other sports, especially in football and rugby. Although the heat turns a bit less in cricket, it will be an occasion nonetheless.

The match

The side led by Eoin Morgan will travel to Scotland to play the ODI on 10th July 2018 at The Grange. It will be Scotland’s first game of the summer season.

The match will be followed by two games between England and Pakistan at the same venue.

Last series

England’s most recent visit to the northern side of the border was in 2014. The match was reduced to a 20-over contest due to heavy rainfall. Scotland decided to put England into batting first after winning the toss.

England posted 167/6 in their 20 overs, largely due to Alastair Cook’s 44 and Ian Bell’s 50. The duo shared a 83-run partnership for the opening wicket.

In reply, Scotland lost wickets in regular intervals and stuttered to complete their designated 20 overs. In the end, they scored 133/9, with Michael Leask scoring a swashbuckling 42 from 16 balls.

Last meeting

The most recent encounter between the two sides happened during the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

England posted 303/8 in their 50 overs batting first. Moeen Ali tonked an impressive 128 off 107 balls. He was ably supported by Ian Bell’s 54. Josh Davey took 4/68 for the Scots.

Scotland were bundled out for 184 in their reply as Kyle Coetzer scored 71.
