As the 2024 DP World Tour season draws to a close, the ten players who will earn a PGA Tour card are beginning to attract the attention of fans. Half of the spots are virtually filled, but the battle for the other half is very close with only three tournaments left on the schedule.
The top 5 of the group that are sure to receive their PGA Tour cards are Thriston Lawrence, Rasmus Hojgaard, Matteo Manassero, Niklas Norgaard and Jesper Svensson. The other five are by no means assured and will have to watch out for their closest challengers.
Let's take a look at some of the players who could sneak into the group.
3 DP World Tour golfers who could potentially earn a 2025 PGA Tour
With three DP World Tour tournaments left to play, the players ranked 6-10 in the group aiming to win their PGA Tour card are Rikuya Hoshino, Sebastian Soderberg, Jordan Smith, Romain Langasque and Tom McKibbin. Especially the last three will need to perform their best to avoid being eliminated at the last minute.
These are three of the players who still have a strong chance of earning their PGA Tour card:
#1 Thorbjorn Olesen
Thorbjorn Olesen already knows what it's like to earn his PGA Tour card through the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai, having done so for the 2024 season. In fact, the veteran Dane had the option to try for permanent status through the FedEx Cup Fall, but chose to play in Europe instead.
Olesen has moved up and down the top 10 all season, mainly due to his early season win in Ras Al Khaimah. He lost ground while playing in America, but has rebounded in recent weeks with strong finishes at the Open de France (2nd) and the Andalucia Masters (7th).
The 34-year-old is just 22 points behind McKibbin and 66 points behind Langasque, so his chances of qualifying for the PGA Tour are not out of the question.
#2 Julien Guerrier
Winning the Andalucia Masters has put Julien Guerrier in contention for a PGA Tour card. The 39-year-old Frenchman is only 41 points behind McKibbin and 85 points behind Langasque, gaps that can be closed with average results in the remaining tournaments (depending on how the rest of the players do).
#3 Matt Wallace
Matt Wallace spent most of the season near the bottom of the DP World Tour rankings, but has turned things around in the past two months.
The 34-year-old's victory at the Omega European Masters and a top-15 finish at the BMW Championship were crucial in his bid for a PGA Tour card. The Englishman trails McKibbin by 115 points with three tournaments remaining.
