Adam Scott, one of Australia's well-known golfers, has won one major championship in his professional career. His historic win came at the 2013 Masters Tournament, making him the first Australian to win the green jacket since the event began in 1934. Scott secured the win at Augusta National on April 14, 2013, after a dramatic playoff against Argentina's Angel Cabrera.
Both golfers were tied at 9-under after 72 holes. Scott hit a 20-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole to take the lead, but Cabrera responded with a similar birdie on the 18th to force a playoff. On the second sudden-death hole, Scott sealed the deal with a 12-foot birdie putt on the 10th green. The 2013 Masters win helped him reach world no. 1 in May 2014, which he held for 11 weeks.
Before his Masters victory, Scott had several other close wins in the majors. He came close at the 2012 Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St. Annes. Leading by four shots with four holes to play, Scott hit a bogey on each of the final four holes. It allowed Ernie Els to clinch the title by one stroke.
Notably, Adam Scott finished T2 at the 2011 Masters, T3 at the 2006 PGA Championship, and T5 at the 2014 Open Championship. He was runner-up at the 2018 PGA Championship behind Brooks Koepka. As of June 2025, Adam Scott has played in over 90 Major championships and remains a one-time major winner. Currently, Adam Scott is gearing up for the final round at the 2025 US Open.
