The 2024 Procore Championship begins on Thursday, September 12 at the Silverado Resort in Napa Valley, California. Even though the Tour Championship just concluded the FedEx Cup season on the PGA Tour, golfers will continue to play on the Tour. There will be plenty of tournaments between now and the beginning of the 2025 Cup season.

As we head into the Procore Championship this week, it's worth taking a look back at the former champions.

Past champions of the Procore Championship

The Procore Championship has operated under a few names before its current moniker: the Fortinet Championship, the Safeway Open, the Frys.com Open, and the Fry's Electric Open. The defending champion for the Procore Championship is Sahith Theegala, who tied the tournament record with -21 last year. He's back in the field this year, but he's edged out by another golfer to be the overall betting favorite this time.

In 2022 and 2021, Max Homa won the tournament. The 33-year-old shot 16-under, to defeat Danny Willett by one stroke in 2022. The year before, he shot 19-under and defeated Maverick McNealy by a single stroke as well.

In 2020, Stewart Cink took home the trophy by setting the record at 21-under par. That finish was two strokes clear of Harry Higgs. A year before that, Cameron Champ defeated Adam Hadwin after shooting -17.

Kevin Tway had to win a playoff to earn the trophy in 2018. He shot 14 under but had to contend with both Ryan Moore and Brandt Snedeker, who also shot 14 under but couldn't win the playoff on the par-four 10th hole.

Brendan Steele won the Procore Championship in 2017 and 2016. In 2017, he beat Tony Finau by two strokes at -15. His -18 scoreline was one stroke up on Patton Kizzire the year before that.

The tournament was only started in 2007. It was called the Fry's Electric Open for just one year before being changed to the Frys.com Open. In 2016, the name was changed to the Safeway Open. The Fortinet Championship was its name beginning in 2021, but that didn't last very long.

2024 is the first year the trophy will say Procore Championship. The current favorite is Wyndham Clark, so he would be the inaugural Procore winner if the odds hold true.
