Kevin Na’s Early Life and Background

Korean American professional golfer Kevin Sangwook Na, better known as Kevin Na, was born on September 15, 1983, in Seoul, South Korea, to Yong Na and Jung Hye-won. He was interested in golf from a very young age and always tried to develop his skills by working hard.


When he was 8, his entire family shifted from Seoul to southern California, U.S. Then he attended Diamond Bar High School in California. At the age of 17, he discontinued his schooling to play professional golf. As he became professional so early, he did not get admission in any Universities and thus started focusing on his golf career.

Before becoming professional, Kevin Na attempted to compete in professional events through Monday qualifiers and sponsor exemptions, which helped him prepare for the transition to being pro. He routinely played 2 or 3 rounds at La Canada Flintridge Country Club each weekend. There is very limited information about Kevin's notable success in his amateur days, but it is reported that while being an amateur, he held the top spot as an amateur American golfer at the age of sixteen and also piled up victories in junior tournaments.

In the year 2001, Kevin Na turned into a professional golfer. After that, he played in several tours like the Asian Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, European Tour, PGA Tour. Currently, he plays in LIV Golf. During this, Kevin achieved success in 9 professional tournaments, including 5 PGAs between 2011 and 2021. He finished 7th in the 2016 U.S. Open and T-10 in 2011 PGA Championship, which indicated his outstanding performance in major championships. He held the 19th position in the Official World Golf Ranking as of November 1, 2015, and was on the list of World's top 50 golfers for more than 240 weeks.

In the year 2006, he had a hand injury and missed the sport for around six months. After recovery, he won at the Mark Christopher Charity Classic on the Nationwide Tour (2006).


In 2009, Kevin tied 3rd at the Players Championship. Then he secured entry in the 2010 Masters Tournament by 9 top-10 finishes and fourteen top-25 finishes, which also caused him to rank 19th on the money list. His first victory on the PGA Tour came on October 2, 2011, at Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open by 2 strokes and after this victory, he ranked 30th in the season earnings. In the following year, he finished 10th in the PGA Championship.


After 7 years, he claimed his second win on the PGA Tour at A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier by five strokes. Later in the season of 2019-2021, Kevin Na won three more PGA tournaments at Charles Schwab Challenge (2019), Shriners Hospitals for Children Open (2019) and Sony Open in Hawaii (2021). But in 2022, he joined LIV Golf after resigning from the PGA Tour.

Kevin Na's wife is Julianne Na. She is also a Korean American and has been seen attending the tournaments of her husband and supporting him during his wins. Before dating, they were both very good friends and finally got married on April 24, 2016.


The couple has been living together happily for over 6 years. According to reports, when Kevin heard about his wife being in pain while giving birth to their first child, he immediately left the tournament at the Deutsche Bank Championship (2016), which highlights his love for Julianne.
