The second round of the 2025 US Open has been suspended due to inclement weather, and the projected cut line has been set at 7-over. Several big names were no match for the tough conditions at Oakmont and did not make it into the third round of the tournament. Including US Open defending champion Bryson DeChambeau and six-time major champion Phil Mickelson.

The 2025 US Open started with a star-studded field of 156 players. The tournament kicked off at Oakmont Country Club on June 12 and will conclude on June 15.

Last year, Bryson DeChambeau claimed the title with 6-under 274. He beat Rory McIlroy by one stroke. This year, DeChambeau carded 10-over 150 across 36 holes and will go home early.

Nine-time PGA Tour winner Bryson DeChambeau has won the US Open twice—in 2020 and 2024. He has yet to claim a title in other major tournaments but has placed second in the PGA Championship and fifth in the Masters Tournament.

This year, the American golfer’s dream of chasing a third US Open title was cut short after he scored 3-over 73 in his first round and 7-over 77 in his second round. He dropped 42 spots down the leaderboard and ended his second round at T91.

#2 Ludvig Aberg

Ludvig Aberg secured his maiden PGA Tour title at the 2023 RSM Classic and a second title at the 2025 Genesis Invitational. He was chasing his first major championship title at the US Open, but performed below expectations and shot 2-over 72 in his first round.

On day two at Oakmont, the Swedish golfer was unable to make a single birdie and shot six bogeys and carded 6-over 76 at the end of his round. This brought his total to 8-over 148.

#3 Phil Mickelson

45-time PGA Tour winner Phil Mickelson has won all the major championships except the US Open. His dream of securing a career Grand Slam was cut short after he carded 4-over 74 in his first round and 4-over 74 in his second round.

Mickelson shot three birdies, three bogeys, and two double bogeys in his first round. On day two, he shot two birdies, two bogeys, and two double bogeys and carded a total of 8-over 148, narrowly missing the cut line by 1 stroke.

#4 Sepp Straka

Sepp Straka has won four tournaments on the PGA Tour but has yet to lift a trophy in a major championship. So far, his best result in the US Open is 28th position, which was in 2019.

This year at Oakmont, Straka shot four bogeys and two double bogeys in a birdie-free first round. Following that, he shot three birdies and six bogeys in his second round and carded a total of 11-over 151 across 36 holes.

16-time PGA Tour winner Justin Thomas was chasing his first US Open title and third major championship victory at the 2025 US Open. He shot one birdie, five bogeys, and a double bogey in his first round.

On day two, Thomas struggled more and shot six bogeys, two double bogeys, and four birdies. This brought his total score across 36 holes to 12-over.
