Scottie Scheffler comes into the US Open 2025 as a favorite. The reigning PGA Championship winner enters the Oakmont weekend with 28-1 odds, according to SportsLine. He tops almost all sports books, beating defending champion Bryson DeChambeau and World No.2 Rory McIlroy. However, Scheffler ‘doesn’t pay attention’ to it.
The 28-year-old, worth $92.5 million as per Forbes, revealed that he isn’t bothered about his odds for the US Open. Scheffler, who is a fan favorite for all PGA Tour weekends, said he is solely focused on what happens on the field. Interestingly, the ace golfer even revealed getting rid of the mobile payment service, Venmo because he was either “getting paid by people” who bet on him or being requested for money who lost the bets.
The 2024 PGA Tour Player of the Year claimed that every player hears about the financial benefits from their wins via fans.
Speaking about sports books odds ahead of the US Open, Scottie Scheffler said on Wednesday, as quoted by ASAP Sports:
“I think everybody hears from fans whether they have a financial benefit or anything in their outcome. That's why I had to get rid of my Venmo because I was either getting paid by people or people requesting me a bunch of money when I didn't win. It wasn't a good feeling.
But no, I don't pay attention to the favorite stuff or anything like that. Starting Thursday morning, we're at even par, and it's up to me to go out there and play against the golf course and see what I can do.”
It is pertinent to note that Scheffler is in form and is deemed the safest bet for all major championships this season. The golfer has amassed three victories so far this season, adding to his odds.
Is Scottie Scheffler the favorite to win the US Open?
