Golf fans on social media has mixed reactions to Richard Bland winning the Senior PGA Championship in his debut at the tournament. The Englishman won the Senior Major, which concluded on Sunday, May 26, at the Harbor Shores Golf Club. He registered a three-stroke victory over Richard Green, clinching the third trophy of his professional career.

Nuclr Golf shared a video on its X (formerly Twitter) account in which Bland received his trophy.

Fans had mixed reactions to his win in the comments section of the post. Some praised the golfer for the victory, while others called it "embarrassing."

This was notably Richard Bland's third career win. After turning pro in 1996, his maiden professional victory came in 2001 at the Challenge Tour Grand Final. He won the season-ending tournament by five strokes over fellow golfer Philip Golding.

Bland won his next event on the European Tour at the 2021 Betfred British Masters before winning the Senior PGA Championship in 2024.

Bland started the 2024 Senior PGA Championship on Thursday, May 23, on the 10th hole. He began with two back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th holes, which was followed by an impressive eagle on the par-5 fifth hole.

Bland shot a bogey-free round on the first day of the Senior Major. He carded five birdies, including three on the front nine and two on the back nine, along with an eagle, to score 7-under 64.

The second round of the tournament took place on Friday, May 24, and again, Bland started well. He shot a birdie on the first hole and then added another birdie on the third hole. The LIV golfer faced difficulties on the par-3 fourth hole and made an unfortunate bogey but quickly sank a birdie on the next hole.

Overall, he shot six birdies and a bogey in the second round to score a deficit of five.

Although Richard Bland played well in the first two rounds and made the cut at the Senior Major, he had a bad day on Saturday, May 25. He began the day with a bogey on the second hole and shot five bogeys in the round with just two birdies to score 74.

Bland started the final round in third place on the leaderboard but was impressive throughout the round, ultimately winning the Major. He started Sunday with two consecutive birdies on the first and second holes and then made a bogey on the third. He added two more pairs of consecutive birdies on the first nine and two birdies, an eagle and a bogey on the back nine.

Overall, Richard Bland shot a round of 8-under 63 in the final to win the Senior PGA Championship. Richard Green finished in second place, followed by Greg Chalmers.
