Brendan Steele claims first individual victory after intense weekend at 2024 LIV Golf Adelaide

LIV Adelaide: Day 3
Brendan Steele at LIV Adelaide: Day 3

When Brendan Steele arrived to play at LIV Golf Adelaide, fans did not expect much from the 41-year-old. After all, Steele's performances in his last five outings before Adelaide had been subpar. The American Golfer had finished T18 at LIV Golf Miami earlier this month.

However, at Adelaide, Steele managed to shock fans by claiming a first-place finish on the individual leaderboard. The 41-year-old finished the tournament with a score of 18-under to beat Louis Oosthuizen (17-under) and Charl Schwartzel (16-under) who finished second and third respectively.

This is Steele's first victory this season, and he must naturally be elated about it. In his interview after the win, Steele mentioned he knew there would be hard moments in the last round of this tournament. He said:

“Yeah, I was telling myself that I knew there was going to be hard moments today regardless of the result and that I just needed to get back in there and start playing with freedom again... And, and I was able to hit some good shots after that and write the show.”

With this victory at LIV Golf Adelaide, it will be interesting to see how Steele performs in future LIV events. After Adelaide, Steele will next play at Singapore from May 3rd to May 5th.

Phil Mickelson congratulated his teammate Brendan Steele

Brendan Steele's victory at LIV Golf Adelaide is impressive for multiple reasons. Not only is it Steele's first victory this year, but it's also his first professional win in seven years. Hence, it's naturally a massive moment for the golfer, and his teammate Phill Mickelson did not fail to realize it.

Via his X (formerly Twitter) account, Mickelson was quick to congratulate Steele for his victory. In his tweet, Mickelson acknowledged a wonderful performance by the 41-year-old golfer and further expressed excitement about the HyFlyers achieving a podium finish on third behind Ripper GC and Stinger GC.
