Debutant Nick Taylor comments on playing US Open after ‘Canadian players’ fifth Major’

Nick Taylor is all set to enter the 2025 US Open at Oakmont. Taylor, who just wrapped up the RBC Canadian Open, recently acknowledged the challenge of keeping momentum going into this Championship.

Canadian golfers often call the RBC Canadian Open the fifth Major because it's Canada's National Championship. The RBC Canadian Open is the oldest national open outside the UK, established in 1904. Until Taylor's win in 2023, no Canadian golfer had won the tournament since Pat Fletcher in 1954. Meanwhile, Taylor expressed his thoughts, saying via ASAP Sports:

"Yeah, it is difficult. Managing your rest, your energy levels is huge. The hard part going into next week, I've never been there. I'm going to see the golf course. I'm going to put some time in on the greens, around the greens, and just try to get much rest as possible.

Yeah, I'll have three days to manage that. It's not like I'm going to be searching for anything golf game-wise because I feel like I'm in a good spot. So that's definitely a nice thing."

Earlier this year, Nick Taylor secured his fifth PGA Tour title at the Sony Open in Hawaii, highlighted by an eagle on the 72nd hole. He defeated Nico Echavarria in a playoff. Additionally, Nick Taylor won the Ben Hogan award in 2010 and the McCormack medal as the world's top amateur in 2009. Taylor also finished as a low amateur at the 2009 US Open with a 65 at Bethpage Black. Nick Taylor tied for 36th that week.

This year's US Open will be held at Oakmont Country Club, known for its narrow fairways and brutal rough. The 2025 edition marks the 10th time it has hosted the US Open. With that, let's look at the full list of players competing at Oakmont.
