Paul Waring won the 2024 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the first DP World Tour playoff against prominent names like Rory McIlroy and Tyrrell Hatton. Waring maintained his lead on the final day and won the event by two strokes.
Paul carded -24 for the event, while his compatriot, Hatton, remained in second place, just two strokes behind him at -22. The English golfer registered his first victory on the DP World Tour after six years, with his last win coming at the 2018 Nordea Masters.
The 39-year-old golfer had lost momentum on Saturday as he carded +1 for the day. Waring had a lead of just one stroke and needed a strong finish on the final day to register his second DP World Tour win.
The English pro golfer managed to maintain his lead carding -6 for the day to win the 2024 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship for the first time in his career. This victory has taken Waring to fifth place in the Race to Dubai rankings, while Rory McIlroy still holds the top spot thanks to his consistent performance throughout the season.

However, the Northern Irish golfer played scintillating golf on the final day to get himself in contention and eventually finished T3 for the event. He carded -8 on the final day to finish -21 for the event.

Rory McIlroy has maintained his top position in the Race to Dubai Rankings thanks to his last-day heroics and consistent performance throughout the season. The South African Thriston Lawrence is placed second and has performed well throughout the season.
