“Everything is an unoriginal parody” – Fans react as LIV Golf skippers explain their quirky team names

LIV Golf has finally unveiled the names of their teams for the 2023 edition. The tournament, which is set to start its second season next week, is making headline after headline for some reason or another.

LIV is back with a second season scheduled to take place in seven different countries. The tournament will feature 14 events throughout the year.

After Ryder and the Presidents Cups, LIV Golf has been the only golf event that has been played in the team format. This year, the tournament will feature 12 teams, namely Aces GC, Cleek GC, Fireball GC, HY Flyers GC, IronHead GC, Crusher GC, Majesticks GC, Niblicks GC, Punch GC, Torque GC, Smash GC, and Stinger GC.

LIV Golf announced the teams with their captains in a video shared on Twitter. Fans, however, were not happy with the team's name and shared their disappointment in the comments section.

They wrote:

"This is so bad. They need a new Media Person. Oh yea they all quit"

"Money grubbers? Is that a team?"

"Good lord, this is cringe marketing"

"Did a 5th grader script this?"

"i’m so embarrassed for everyone involved in making this."

"Everything is an unoriginal parody. Enjoy the bargain basement ratings on CW. So sad that decent players are irrelevant now in world of golf. Rich hit irrelevant."

Dustin Johnson is back and ready to take the Aces GC lead. They notably won the competition the previous year. While Kevin Na captains the Iron Heads GC and Martin Kaymer Cleeks GC, Phil Mickelson will captain the HY Flyers.
