"F**k this place” - Shane Lowry gets caught in hot mic moment at the US Open 2025

The second round of the 2025 US Open is underway at Oakmont Country Club, and Shane Lowry is in the field for the third major of the year. He was captured expressing himself in a frustrating moment after missing a shot for par and making a bogey instead on the fourth hole.

Lowry has won three events on the PGA Tour and six on the European Tour. His first and only major championship win was at the 2019 Open Championship, which he won with a score of 15-under 269. He won by six strokes, finishing ahead of Tommy Fleetwood, the runner up.

The Irish golfer is chasing his second major championship title at the US Open, but the conditions at Oakmont have not been favorable to him so far. After making a stream of three bogeys and a double bogey, Shane Lowry was aiming to make par at Oakmont’s par-5 fourth hole.

However, he narrowly missed the putt after his ball went past the hole. Frustrated, he could be heard saying:

“F**k this place, f**k this place.”

Shane Lowry carded 9-over 79 in his first round at Oakmont. He scored 8-over 78 in his second round. At 17-over 157, he is all set to miss the projected cut line of 7-over and will not be in the field on moving day.

How did Shane Lowry perform in his first round at the 2025 US Open?

Shane Lowry teed off from the tenth tee on day one at Oakmomt Country Club. He made par on his first two holes and shot his first bogey of the day on the par-5 12th hole. He also made par on his next three holes and shot a devastating double bogey on the par-3 16th hole and a bogey on the 18th.

On the front nine, Lowry still struggled and shot yet another double bogey on the second hole. He followed with a spectacular eagle on the par-4 third hole, but struggled once more with a bogey on the fourth.

At the end of the round, the 38-year-old golfer had shot a total of five bogeys, three double bogeys, and an eagle, and carded 9-over 79.
