The 2023 Honda Classic is around the corner. The PGA Tour event, following the highly successful Genesis Invitational, is set to tee off at the Champion Course at PGA National Resort and Spa in Florida on Thursday, February 23.

The 17th event of the 2023-2023 PGA Tour schedule, the Honda Classic features eight of the world's top 50 as its top contenders. However, the event won’t be replicating the whopping $20 million prize purse offered at Genesis. The Classic will have a set purse of $8.4 million. According to the American circuit’s prize money distribution chart’s 18 per cent payout, the winner of the event will win a paycheck of $1,512,000.

Golfers will play the four-day event with a 36-hole cut for the prize money on offer. Much like other PGA Tour events, the Classic will also pay for the top 65 players and ties. While the winner gets well over a million, the runner-up will settle for a $915,600 payout. Third- and fourth-placed golfers will return home with $579,600 and $411,600, respectively. Meanwhile, the golfer finishing 65th will earn $18,060 for his efforts.

Coming off two back-to-back designated events, several top golfers have decided to take the week off. Owing to this, players like Sungjae Im, Billy Horschel, and Shane Lowry headline the Honda Classic's 144-player field at the PGA National.

It’s also pertinent to note that the event’s dates clash with the LIV Golf League 2023’s inaugural event in Mexico, adding to the PGA Tour event's stakes.
