How much will golfers win at 2023 Valero Texas Open? Prize money purse explored

The 2023 Valero Texas Open will tee off on Thursday, March 30, at the TPC San Antonio (Oaks Course) in San Antonio. The four-day event, arriving ahead of the 2023 Masters, will have some of the PGA Tour’s top names competing for the prize.

The Valero Texas Open has a prize purse of $8.9 million. The prize payouts are up 3.5 per cent in 2023.

According to the PGA Tour’s standard prize distribution system, the winner of the event will bag $1.602 million. While the champion takes the winner’s share, the golfer finishing runner-up will bag $970,100. The golfer finishing third will win $614,100, while the fourth-place finisher will take $436,100.

The Valero Texas Open, despite being one of the most historic events, is not an elevated event. The PGA Tour has kept it a regular event. The tournament will have the regular 36-hole cut, which will ensure the top 65 players get paid. Interestingly, the golfer finishing in 65th place will win $19,135 for his efforts.

It is pertinent to note that the Texas Open also holds other incentives for players. Being the PGA Tour’s last stop ahead of the Masters, several players will be playing this week for a shot to qualify for the Augusta National event.
