Is Viktor Hovland playing in the 2024 RBC Heritage? Event’s X post carrying golfer’s image confuse fans

The RBC Heritage posted on its official X page, formerly Twitter, an image showcasing one of golf's brightest stars: Viktor Hovland. The golfer was originally supposed to play in this tournament before withdrawing, but the post seems to indicate that he's among the players in the field. What is the reality?

Despite the picture, Viktor Hovland is not playing the RBC Heritage. This was likely a pre-made graphic that they had ready to go when Hovland was part of the field. The golfer withdrew last weekend, so it was a recent change and the social media team didn't catch that their image still had him featured.

Hovland had a really poor showing at the Masters 2024. He missed the cut and was eight over par, putting in a pretty dismal second round. Once he officially stopped playing after Round 2, he withdrew from the RBC to give himself what seems to be a much-needed break.

The X post may or may not get deleted, as it is clearly confusing some fans who heard he withdrew but are now seeing him as part of the promotion for the upcoming tournament.

Viktor Hovland recently parted ways with swing coach

Last year, Viktor Hovland was winning big events, cementing himself as one of the PGA Tour's premier talents, and also clinched the Ryder Cup. This year, he's in a bit of a rut and recently moved on from his swing coach.

He did say that he felt good about his game before the Masters, but that didn't really come to fruition.

Via Yahoo! Sports, Hovland revealed about his swing and the coaching change:

"I mean, it's one of those things. Like, I was playing great golf last year, but it's not like I'm trying to change my golf swing. It's just sometimes the game of golf you try to do the same every day, but then things aren't the same every day when you go to the golf course.
"I took a huge break after last year and when I came back, things were a little bit different and I had to kind of find my way back to where I think I'm going to play my best golf.”

Now, he's taking a bit of time off again, although it's unclear how much time. He will at least skip the RBC Heritage.
