Greg Norman has openly announced that he is looking forward to a LIV golfer winning the Masters this week. However, the Aussie himself won’t be able to see it in person as the event’s officials snubbed him from the invitees' list.

Norman has now revealed that he hasn’t been invited to this week’s Masters. Dubbing it 'petty', the LIV Golf CEO stated that he was “disappointed” by the move. The two-time Major champion also revealed that he was only sent a ground pass last year. He added that those in the Green Jackets haven’t even extended ground passes to him this season. However, the rebel league mastermind went on to state that he will still be watching the event.

Speaking about the Masters to Telegraph Sport, Greg Norman said, as quoted by Golf Monthly:

“Funnily enough, I haven’t been invited. As a major winner I always was before, but they only sent me a ground pass last year and nothing, zilch, this time around. I’m disappointed because it’s so petty but of course I’ll still be watching.”

It's pertinent to note that Norman himself has never won the Masters. The Aussie is famous for coming close and failing to win the Green Jacket on several occasions.

The LIV CEO infamously lost the prestigious title by throwing away a six-shot lead to Nick Faldo in the 1996 Masters. Addressing the same, the two-time Open winner added that his failure to land the trophy stands out as an absence on his CV.

“You could say I came within touching distance on a few occasions and I suppose it stands out as the big absence on my CV. That’s part of why it would mean so much to see one of our LIV family in the Butler Cabin. I would be the happiest man in the world, the first to ring and congratulate and pay for what would be an incredible party.”

Further backing LIV players at the event, the 68-year-old added:

“But it’s not about me it’s about the players and I’m telling you they’re not going there as individuals, but as a team, backing each other, supporting and rooting for each other. I think that gives these great players an even greater chance next Sunday.”

Greg Norman wants all LIV golfers to celebrate if one of them wins the Masters

Greg Norman recently raised several eyebrows by announcing his wish to see all 18 LIV Golf players celebrate on the 18th green at Augusta if one of them wins. The ace golfer revealed that he wanted to witness such a show of solidarity that makes an emphatic statement to the league’s critics.

“They’ve said that if one of them wins then the other 17 will hang around and be there to congratulate him around the 18th green. Could you imagine what a scene that would be, all these players hugging the winner. You only see things like that in the Ryder Cup, although it’s happening in our events more and more”

While Norman won’t be at the event, it’ll be interesting to see if his wish to see a LIV golfer winning the Masters comes true.
