John Daly has congratulated former President Donald Trump on winning the Presidency for the second time in his third bid. Trump received 295 electoral votes, 25 more than required while Kamala Harris won 226.
The 58-year-old American golfer and two-time Major champion is a huge admirer of Trump and has often shown support for the former President. Daly took to X and posted a picture of a recent outing with Trump in September of a college football match between Alabama and Georgia.
In the picture, Trump and Daly can be seen in a private box. He wrote:
"Historic! Welcome back Mr President! Cheers to getting our country back!"
After an assassination attempt in July 2024 on Donald Trump, Daly called him "one of the toughest men." He wrote on X.
"President Trump is one of the toughest men I know! God bless him and his family right now. Also, sending out prayers to the fallen attendees!"
He had further pledged to take revenge of the assassination attempt through Presidential polls in November.
"This is devastating—our revenge coming in November at the polls! #fightfightfight #maga #myleader #vote #SAVEAMERICA," he wrote.
Trump will be the 47th President of the United States. He will be sworn in on January 20, 2025.
John Daly said Trump predicted that he'd become President in the '90s
In December 2023, John Daly did an interview with Tucker Carlson where he talked about Donald Trump in detail. In the interview, Carlson asked the 5-time PGA Tour winner if he thought Trump would win the Presidential elections. Daly said:
"He needs to win. I pray to God he wins. Just for the satisfaction of bringing our country back together, get some common sense going in here again, and, you know, look what he did."
The four years, how great was our country in the four years he was in office? And now look at it. No secure borders... I mean, what the hell happened?" he added. (1:00-1:15)
Further, in the interview, John Daly said that Trump predicted he'd become President during a tournament in the '90s. He said:
"He flew his helicopter in. We played a pro-am. We went out back (and) we talked a little bit. He stood up (and) he says, ‘Mark my words, I’ll be President of the United States one day.’ This is back in ’92, ’93, ’94, maybe."
John Daly last competed at the 2024 Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS. However, he withdrew from the tournament after two rounds and didn't release any official statement on his withdrawal.
According to his website, his next appearance on the golf course will be at the 2024 PNC Championship, which will be played from December 19 to 22 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando.
