LPGA star Lexi Thompson shared her plan to spend time with her dog on the road before she heads for a break. She was last seen in action at the 2025 U.S. Women's Open at the Erin Hills Golf Course, where she missed the cut.

Thompson carded a 1-over par 73 and a 2-over 74 to face an early exit at the second LPGA Major. She failed to make the cut for the fourth consecutive year at the event. Her best finish at the Major was in 2019, when she was a joint runner-up.

After skipping the Shoprite LPGA Classic, the 30-year-old golfer will also be missing in action at the upcoming tournament, the Meijer LPGA Classic, scheduled to take place in Belmont, Michigan, from June 12 to 15.

Meanwhile, the semi-retired golfer has decided to hit the road with her furry companion for three long weeks before a break. Lexi Thompson shared a picture of her dog on her latest Instagram story with the caption:

Thompson has appeared at five LPGA tournaments so far this season. Although she missed cuts at two events, she has had decent outcomes in the rest of her participations. The 11-time LPGA winner's best finish this season came at the Chevron Championship, where she tied for 11th place after shooting a 2-under par total score of 286.

Lexi Thompson responds to criticism about pace of play

After wrapping up the Major week, Lexi Thompson took to her social media platform to defend herself from the online accusations of slow play. The one-time Major winner was criticized online for slowing down her group, which comprised Nelly Korda and Charley Hull.

Thompson penned a long note after the early exit, thanking the organizers and sponsors. She also addressed the flak she received about the pace of play in the post, as she wrote:

"Want people to realize our group basically waited on every single hole on the group in front , we were never out of position/warned/ or on the clock. I’ll be the first one to say I’m not as fast as my playing partners the two days, but I’m also the last person that wants to be out there for six hours. So before you make assumptions, make sure you get all the facts right before basing it on pictures and little clips. That’s all! 😊"

Thompson also clarified her active status on the LPGA Tour, stating that she was not retired but instead was just not on a 'full-time schedule'. She added that she selectively plays the events she enjoys and takes them one at a time.
