Hurricane Milton made landfall and affected golf courses in Florida near Siesta Key as a Category 3 on the Saffir-Simpson Scale. At the time, Milton had sustained winds over 120 MPH and spawned a wave of tornadoes, eight of which were recorded.
The damage from Hurricane Milton was widespread and severe, and golf courses were not spared the effects of high winds and flooding. This type of damage was expected due to the enormous number of golf facilities.
Fans have reported damage from Hurricane Milton via social media, especially X (formerly Twitter). The Estates Course of the PGA National Resort and the Sandhill Crane Golf Club, both in West Palm Beach, are reportedly affected.
Wellington National Golf Club and Wanderers Golf Club were also affected. The former was hit by one of the tornadoes spawned by the hurricane, which crossed the 11th hole of the course, according to a video circulating on X.
From Tampa, it is reported that Heritage Isles Golf & Country Club was also affected by Hurricane Milton. In the case of this course, the major damage was related to the torrential rains.
Hurricane Milton arrived just days after Hurricane Helene struck the same area. Helene caused widespread damage, including destroying the home of two-time Major champion John Daly.
Line workers stay at Donald Trump's golf property during Hurricane Milton
President Donald Trump has put one of his golf properties at the service of workers preparing to repair damage from Hurricane Milton. The Trump National Doral Miami received 275 linemen from the Florida Power & Light Company this Wednesday.
The fact was reported by the son of the former president, Eric Trump, from his personal X account:
"Honored to have 275 incredible linemen from FPL at @TrumpDoral as they get ready to respond to the aftermath of Hurricane #Milton! You are amazing and the Trump Family, and entire state of Florida, appreciates you! Enjoy the rooms - they are the best in Florida! Be safe!"
According to the New York Times, approximately 3.2 million customers in Florida were left without power due to storm damage. Power & Light Company crews will start repairs on Thursday.
Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach and Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter are Trump's other Florida golf properties which the storm may have damaged. X users also report that he opened his Mar-a-Lago resort to people who needed shelter from the hurricane. It is one of his properties in Palm Beach, where he has his permanent residence.
