Something unexpected happened near hole no. 17 at the Augusta National Golf Club - The 2023 Masters - Round Two

Day 2 of Masters 2023 has been suspended due to poor weather conditions. After the conclusion of the second round, LIV golfer Brooks Koepka cemented his first position on the leaderboard, while Jon Rahm jumped to second place. American amateur Sam Bennett finished in third position.

However, shortly before the day's game was called off, three trees near hole 17 fell on the ground due to heavy winds. Thankfully, no one was injured, as per the Masters' official Twitter handle.

"Augusta National Golf Club can confirm that no injuries were reported from three trees that were blown over to the left of the No. 17 tee due to wind. The safety and well-being of everyone attending the Masters Tournament will always be the top priority for the Club., which will continue to closely monitor weather today and through the Tournament"

The tournament's official Twitter post also stated that the second round of the Masters 2023 has officially been suspended and will resume on Saturday morning.

"The Second Round has been officially suspended for the rest of the day. Play will resume Saturday morning at 8:00 AM EDT. Ticket gates will open at 7:00 AM EDT as scheduled."

2017 Masters champion Sergio Garcia, who was near hole 15, talked about the incident.

"It sounded like a grandstand blew over, super loud. Two trees fell down from the roots and took another one on the way down. People scattered around them but there was one woman that the trees fell around her and somehow she didn’t get hurt. Thank God."

The play at the Masters 2023 at Augusta National Golf Club was forced suspended for the second time after the weather worsened. The tournament's official Twitter post updated the fans with the news:

"Due to inclement weather conditions, Augusta National Golf Club was forced to suspend play at 4:22 p.m. EDT and, subsequently, evacuated the grounds."

As the weather gets colder, Augusta National works to finish Round 2 quickly in the hopes that all four rounds will conclude by the time it gets dark on Sunday evening. More winds and rains are expected on Saturday.
