Tiger Woods is appearing in the PGA Championship for the 22nd time. The 106th edition of PGA Championship is being held at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky from 16 to 19 May, 2024.

In the first round, Woods carded 72 with 1 over par. In the front nine, he scored two birdies on the 3rd and 7th holes. However, he went through two bogeys on the 8th and 9th holes. He was at par after nine holes. In the back nine, he managed to score only one birdie on the 13th hole but shot two bogeys on the 11th and 15th holes.

After the end of first round, Tiger Woods was tied at T85 with the likes of Peter Malnati, Rickie Fowler and Sam Burns, among 40 others. When asked if he could predict his physical condition the day before a game, Woods said (via PGA Championship):

"Each day is a little bit different. Some days, it's better than others. It's just the way it is. My body is just that way. Some days, it feels great, and other days, a bit of a struggle."

Tiger Woods was asked about the state of his body in a pre-conference before the tournament as well. Woods responded (via PGA Championship):

"Yeah, my body's okay. It is what it is. I wish my game was a little bit sharper. Again, I don't have a lot of competitive reps, so I am having to rely on my practice sessions and getting stuff done either at home or here on-site."

Tiger Woods will tee off at 1:29 PM with Adam Scott and Keegan Bradley on Friday, May 17 in the second round.
