"One of the best feelings of my life"- Paul Waring reflects on hard earned Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship victory

Paul Waring has emerged as the 2024 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship winner. The penultimate event of the DP World Tour concluded on Sunday, November 10, at Yas Links golf course in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Waring won the tournament by two strokes over Tyrell Hatton and registered his second win on the DP World Tour in the 333rd start. His first DP World Tour victory came at the 2018 Nordea Masters. After the tournament, he was asked if it was the best moment of his life, to which he responded:

"Yeah, absolutely. I said I hit the best golf shot of my life on Friday. I think I played under so much control.Some of the best golf in my life that is. So, yeah, that's one of the best feelings of my life as well. So, absolutely made up.

The 39-year-old scored 64, 61, 73 and 66 in the four rounds of the tournament. He jumped 43 spots in the Race to Dubai rankings to take up the fifth position. He said:

"Right now, my head is absolutely nowhere. It's amazing. Even coming down the last few there, I still feel like I've got to go and play some more holes or something. I don't feel like the job's done yet."

Paul Waring carded two birdies in the last two holes to clinch the trophy. With the win, he has guaranteed his spot on the PGA Tour. Talking about it, he said:

"A new chapter, new challenge, something new. Find if I like it, see how much I enjoy it. I love the DP World Tour. I absolutely love it. I love the people, love playing here. I've got some great mates, but it's another chapter for me now, especially with my advanced age."

Notably, Waring received a prize money of $1.53 million.
