"It’s probably the best part of being a human being" - Rory McIlroy shares his experience of fatherhood

Rory McIlroy keeps his personal life away from the limelight. He was featured in the Netflix golf docuseries Full Swing, but McIlroy didn't allow the producers to film his family.

He is enjoying his time as a father. McIlroy defined it as one of the most precious moments of his life. He claimed that his life changed after Poppy's arrival.

In one of his interviews, as quoted by the PGA Tour, McIlroy confessed that he was glad that he got to experience the life of being a father. The Northern Irish golfer said:

“There’s so much admiration for the mother, what they go through. And it’s just amazing that this – you feel like you get to know your baby while she’s still in her mother’s belly, but to go from not having met this person to having unconditional love for them, from one minute to the next, is just – there’s nothing like it in the world. …It’s probably the best part of being a human being, and I’m glad that I got to experience it.”

Rory McIlroy also talked about his performance after the lockdown and said that slowly everything was getting back to normal. Although he has struggled with his form since the PGA Tour resumed its matches luckily he managed to put in some good performances and reached No. 1 in the world rankings in 2022.

He won the FedEx Cup last year and then won the Dessert Classic in February 2023. Speaking about his performance, McIlroy said in his interview with the PGA Tour earlier this year:

“It’s been hard to think about golf the last few days, just because I’ve been so focused on making sure that everything is okay at home. But yeah, I mean, maybe this is what I needed, just for everything to happen and go well. I haven’t played my best since coming back out since sort of post-COVID. But yeah, maybe things just will fall into place. It’s already been the best week of my life, and this would obviously just be the icing on the cake.”

The Masters is set to take place this week, starting with the opening round on Thursday and the final on Sunday.
