Wade Ormsby, an Australian professional golfer who played most of his career on the Asian Tour, was sacked by LIV Golf after he participated in the inaugural invitational series.

After participating in all eight events in the league during its inaugural season, Ormsby was released. However, his thrilling victory at the International Series Thailand marked his return to the winners' circle for the first time in three years.

The Australian shot a remarkable seven-under-par 65 to force a play-off with Thai wonder Chonlatit Chuenboongam, who was two strokes ahead of him going into Sunday's final round.

Then on the first hole of the playoffs, Wade Ormsby defeated his rival by making a critical 12-foot birdie putt to earn his fourth Asian Tour title.

After his victory at the Black Mountain course in Hua Hin, Ormsby won $360,000 (£296,000), but more importantly, it improved his chances of returning to the renegade LIV series.

Ormsby's return to form came at the perfect moment since his career took a major hit when he was dropped off the 48-man LIV roster for the season's increase of 14 events in 2023.

He is second on the list after Andy Ogletree, another former LIV outlaw, who will be guaranteed a spot on the team for the upcoming season if he wins the International Series Order of Merit.

Even before Open winner Cameron Smith arrived, Wade Ormsby was one of the first LIV Golf captains to lead "Punch GC" during the chaotic inaugural season.

The squad, which has since been renamed Ripper GC, then entirely sacked him and replaced him with Australian teenager Jediah Morgan. But the 42-year-old is committed to rejoining the lucrative LIV circuit before its third season in 2024.

A professional golfer from Adelaide, Australia, named Wade Ormsby was born on March 31, 1980. He turned professional in 2001 during his time in college in the United States.

Having played most of his career on the Asian Tour, Ormsby started off competing on the PGA Tour Australasia. He tried hard to get an entry into the European Tour before finally getting a full-season breakthrough in 2004.

However, over the span of ten years, he managed to get into the European Tour through qualification instead of automatic retention with performance on the tour.

Wade Ormsby won his first professional tournament in 2013. It was the Panasonic Open India. After playing on the European circuit for over 10 years, he finally managed to secure his first tour win at the 2017 UBS Hong Kong Open.

However, Wade Ormsby had to overcome a three-year drought to win his third professional title. He won the Hong Kong Open in 2020. He beat Irish professional Shane Lowry by a massive margin of four strokes.

The victory's luck did not last long, as he had to face yet another three years before winning a professional tournament. He finally won the tournament at the 2023 International Series Thailand on March 12.

Interestingly, he won after four rounds of 20-under-par shooting against Chonlatit Chuenboonngam.
