Scottie Scheffler set to sell off his iconic car for charity

Scottie Scheffler has a famous 2012 GMC Yukon XL car, which is up for sale as he is donating it to charity and is up for auction. The World No. 1 golfer donated his famous car to Triumph Over Kid Cancer (TOKC), a non-profit that raises money for childhood cancer research.

Scheffler got this car from his father when he graduated from the University of Texas and has regularly used this car despite having the capacity to buy a new car.

“Why do I need to change it? It’s reliable,” he said. (via Golfweek)

Scheffler last mentioned this car in 2022 when he revealed it had around 190,000 miles on it. The 2022 Masters Champion drove his family back to Augusta, including their dog Scout, in this same car.

Recently, the 28-year-old golfer got a new car to drive from his sponsor. Additionally, with the birth of his son Bennett, he realized it was time for an upgrade. So he decided to make the best use of this car by donating it to charity through an auction.

Currently, Jim Nantz, the American sports commentator, is the highest bidder of this car. He has placed a bid of $50,000 and said he will be more than happy to store Scheffler's car in his garage.

However, this amount represents the opening price as the auction will resume online by Heritage Auction House.

How has Scottie Scheffler performed on the 2024 PGA Tour?

Scottie Scheffler registered the best performance of his career this year on the PGA Tour. He won seven PGA Tour events, including the season-ending Tour Championship and a Major championship. Additionally, he won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics and was part of Team USA, which won the 2024 Presidents Cup.

However, the two-time Major championship winner said he doesn't understand why the Olympics doesn't count as a win.

"Yeah, it's great. Still don't understand why the Olympics doesn't count. That's a bit weird to me. I think that's part of the greed that goes on in your brain is you say seven, I'm like, I won eight," Scheffler said (via ASAP Sports).

"But overall, it's been a great year. I'm proud of the results. It's something I try not to focus too much on, but at the end of the day, being able to win tournaments is a great feeling, and it's what we work towards, and to be able to have as many wins as I have this year is really special," the 28-year-old golfer said after winning the Tour Championship.

In 2024, Scottie Scheffler made $29,228,357 as official money on the PGA Tour, excluding the Tour Championship bonus.
