Sergio Garcia is gearing up to participate in LIV Golf Chicago. The LIV event will be held from Friday, September 13 to 15 at Bolingbrook Golf Club in Bolingbrook, Illinois.
Before the LIV event, Garcia had a happening non-golf week. On Thursday, September 5, he attended a volleyball match between the Texas Longhorns and the Indiana Hoosiers at Gregory Gymnasium in Austin, Texas. The Longhorns won with a score of 3-0. The set scores were:
- Set 1: Texas 25, Indiana 8
- Set 2: Texas 25, Indiana 21
- Set 3: Texas 25, Indiana 22
Sergio attended the event with his wife Angela Garcia, the Longhorns women's volleyball team's head coach Jerritt Elliott, and his wife Andrea Nucete Elliott. He uploaded a picture from the event on Instagram captioned:

Sergio Garcia next attended Texas Longhorns vs Michigan Wolverines in Michigan Stadium on Saturday, August 7. Texas won the match with a score of 31-12. Quinn Ewers headlined it, throwing 246 yards and scoring three touchdowns. Michigan's 16-game winning streak ended as they could manage only two field goals and a late touchdown.
The 44-year-old attended the event with his wife Angela, father-in-law Marty Akins, friends, and family. He posted a video of the match on X.
"Always great getting to attend and be a spectator. Marty (Akins) brought the football stories from the last time we played Michigan," Sergio Garcia said.
Garcia is currently No. 4 on the 2024 LIV Golf standings with 135 points. Jon Rahm is on top with 195 points. Joaquin Niemann is second with 192 points and Tyrrell Hatton is third with 143 points.

Garcia won LIV Golf Andalucia in playoffs against Anirban Lahiri with a par on the second extra hole. He finished runner-up at LIV Golf Mayakoba where he lost to Joaquin Niemann to a birdie on the fourth extra hole. He also lost LIV Golf Miami with a par on the second extra hole against Dean Burmester. A fifth at LIV Golf Houston is another notable finish.
