Anirban Lahiri: A Brief Biography

Anirban Lahiri is an Indian professional golfer born on 29th June 1987. He hails from the Pune district of Maharashtra. Anirban represents India internationally in Asian Tour and PGA Tour.


Anirban Lahiri- Early Life, Family & Background


Anirban Lahiri picked up interest in golf at the young age of eight. He started learning golf from his father, Dr. Tushar Lahiri, a former physician with the armed forces and recreational golfer. Anirban made his international debut on Asian Tour in 2008. In 2011, he claimed his first victory at the Panasonic Open. His second victory came in 2012 at the SAIL-SBI Open.


Anirban Lahiri Achievements


Between 2013 and 2015, Anirban Lahiri bagged five wins on Asian Tour at SAIL-SBI Open (2013), Indonesian Masters, Macau Open (2014), Malayasian Open, and Indian Open (2015). In 2016, Anirban made his Summer Games debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics.


Anirban Lahiri has 12 Professional Golf Tour of India wins at Haryana Open (2009), BILT Open (2009 and 2010), PGTI Players Championship (2010 (2), 2011 (2), and 2013), PGTI Eagleburg Open, McLeod Russel Tour Championship (2013), and PGTI Ahmedabad Masters (2014). Anirban has so far 18 professional wins on Asian Tour, European Tour, and PGA Tour.


In June 2021, Anirban Lahiri qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020, his second consecutive Summer Games, after securing the 60th spot on the Tokyo Games Rankings for men. One spot was available for India and Anirban is the highest placed Indian in the official world rankings at 340.
