Min Woo Lee missed a spectacular putt in the third round of the Players Championship. The Australian golfer hit a shot but missed the hole from just a few inches.

Lee could not believe the ball didn't fall into the hole but the people in the stands started chanting "wooo!Wooo!", he was left disappointed. Min Woo Lee said:

“I was going up there thinking and talking to my caddie like, how can I stop this. And I managed to hit like 99% of a perfect putt. When I got on to the apex where it was going down, it was like inside left and it was looking so good, and it just crept right.”

When he realized he missed the shot, Lee raised his hands and groaned. He later expressed his disappointment in an interview and said:

“That would have been nice. The roars would have been pretty crazy.”

Despite making a bogey on the 18th hole, Lee was able to secure second position at the Players Championship after the third round. He is just two shots behind the lead.

Min Woo Lee finished in second position after the third round followed by opening-round lead Chad Ramey. Ramey finished in a four-way tie alongside Tommy Fleetwood, Aaron Rai, and Christiaan Benzuidenhout in fourth position.

"I really love playing here" - Min Woo Lee on playing at the TPC Sawgrass

Having turned professional in 2019, Min Woo Lee has won two professional events. He is yet to clinch a trophy on the PGA Tour.

Lee has won two European tours and one PGA Tour of Australasia. The Players Championship could be a big opportunity for him to clinch the first PGA Tour title and improve his world ranking.

Min Woo Lee has reached number 44 in the world rankings. He opened up about her performance in the tournament, saying:

“I mean it's one of the biggest regular season events, and it's obviously considered the fifth major, and it would have been guttering to come 51st in the ranking and not get in.
"I think it ended up being one eighth of a shot with the ranking points. Things did favor in my way, and you got to make the most of it. Like I said, I wouldn't have known that this course was really nice for me. I love to shape shots and hit good tee shots off the tees and, yeah, I really love playing here.”

Min Woo Lee also spoke about the final round of the event, scheduled for Sunday, March 12. Speaking about his performance, Lee said:

“Tomorrow could be the biggest day of my life, but I'm going to go out there and have fun again. It's been the motto for the last three months. Not taking it too seriously. I like to have fun and interact with the fans when I can. Unlike others, you know, they're very serious. So, yeah, I'm just out here enjoying my time, and like I said, I just crept into this tournament and making the most of it and soaking it all in.”
