Yuka Saso made her first albatross in three years at the 2023 LPGA Tour Drive-On Championship. The Japanese golfer holed out from 217 yards in the second round of the tournament. Interestingly, it was the first albatross since 2020 when Lyndsey Weaver-Wright recorded it.

Speaking about her performance in an interview, Saso said as quoted by USA Today:

"We didn’t really know where it landed. So we were just walking to the green and everyone started clapping. But my ball wasn’t on the green so I was like, ‘Why are they clapping? Is it over? Why is everyone clapping if it’s not on the green?’ Then Sei Young [Kim] was walking around also and she looked down and she said it’s in, the ball was in, so that’s how I found out."

LPGA Tour shared a clip of Yuka Saso's incredible shot that stunned the fans and they jumped into the comments section to write:

"These women can play. Every bit as good as their male counterpart. They just don’t hit it as far."
"Nice albatross!"

People also expressed disappointment as the Golf Channel changed the programme at the last minute and fans missed her shot. One user wrote:

Would of loved to see it but the golf channel changed their programming at the last minute."

It is pertinent to note that with an astonishing shot, Yuka Saso jumped into 33 positions to end the second round in the 15th position. She finished with a scoring deficit of eight. Saso played the first round of 70 and the second of 66 to wrap up with a total of 136.

Jenny Shin is leading the LPGA Drive On Championship after the second round alongside Moriya Jutanugam and Maddie Szeryk.
