The Presidents Cup will begin on September 26th at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Canada, with Team USA taking on the International Team. The tournament is similar to that of the Ryder Cup, with the key difference being that the International team doesn't include European golfers.

The competitiveness of this event isn't of the same level as the Ryder Cup's, as Team USA has dominated the event since the first edition in 1994. Recently Golfweek published an article suggesting playing in front of the Canadian crowd could be advantageous for the International Team.

Following this, Tiger Woods' ex-coach Hank Haney shared this on his X (formerly Twitter) account, writing,

"They will need every advantage they can get and every lucky break just to make this watchable."

Unlike the Ryder Cup, the play in this tournament has failed to be competitive. The Presidents Cup began in 1994 and Team USA has won 12 of the 14 editions played so far, while the International Team won just one event, in 1998. The two teams finished in a tie in 2003.

2024 Presidents Cup field, schedule, and more

Team USA will start the 2024 Presidents Cup as the favorite, due to the tournament's records as well as due to prominent names like Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, and others being in the squad. Jim Furyk is the captain, with Brandt Snedeker, Stewart Sink, Kevin Kisner, and Justin Leonard as his deputies.

The International Team has Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott, Jason Day, Si Woo Kim, and others on the team. Mike Wier is leading the team this year, while Ernie Els, Trevor Immelman, Shigeki Maruyama, Geoff Ogilvy, and Camilo Villegas will assist him this week. Each player will probably need to punch above their weight if the Internationals are to end USA's dominance in the biennial event.
