Minjee Lee is eyeing a strong start to her 2023 campaign with a win on the Honda LPGA Thailand. The golfer, currently teeing up at the Siam Country Club's Pattaya Old Course, on Wednesday revealed that she has her aspirations set for “two majors.”

A revitalized Lee had a decorated 2022 season. The 26-year-old Aussie wants to better her triumphant campaign this year with Major wins. The ambitious World No. 3 stated that most of her goals revolved around the Majors along with becoming World No. 1.

Speaking ahead of her season opener at the Honda LPGA Thailand, Minjee Lee said:

"Two majors is kind of my goal… Most of my goals revolve around the majors now, and they're probably right up the top of my priority list ... and World No. 1 is at the back of my head, yeah."

It is pertinent to note that Lee bagged her second career major at last year's US Women’s Open. She finished joint runner-up at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship and went on to tie for fourth at the AIG Women’s Open. The 26-year-old became the major player-of-the year owing to her consistency.

The golfer also bagged heavy financial benefits from the events, bagging $1.8 million for her US Open victory and $1 million as the AON Risk Reward winner.

Minjee Lee wants to be World No. 1

Despite having a stellar season, Minjee Lee failed to scale the golf rankings summit in 2023. The Aussie went painfully close on multiple occasions but had to settle for No. 3 in the end, behind Lydia Ko and Nelly Korda.

Lee said:

"I've been close a couple times and, because I wanted it so much, it hurts to not be able to be in that position. So obviously I don't know what it entails (to get there) because I haven't been there before. But if I keep going through my processes in my golf game and just stick to what I know and what I'm good at, then I know that playing good golf, that's like the result of it.”

She added:

"I'm going to try not to put too much pressure on myself. One of my big goals is not to be too tired by the end of the year. I want to pace myself throughout the year and be happy. If I'm happy, I'm happy on the golf course as well. Towards the end of last year, I kind of tapered off a little bit, so I still have quite a lot in me. I have goals that I want to meet and a lot of things that I want to do yet.”

It is pertinent to note that Lee’s last outing came at the Australian Open in December. The golfer hasn’t played competitively in two and a half months. Taking a break from the greens, the Aussie holidayed in Tasmania and attended her friend and rival Lydia Ko's wedding in Korea.

It's safe to say that Minjee Lee will be looking for a strong comeback at the ongoing 2023 Honda LPGA Thailand.
