Tyrrell Hatton struggles with a potential injury during warm-up of Dell Match Play

THE PLAYERS Championship - Final Round
Tyrrell Hatton has a potential injury ahead of Match Play

Tyrrell Hatton may have come down with an injury ahead of Match Play. His participation in this weekend's Match Play is in doubt as he was spotted visibly struggling with a hand cramp of some sort.

Hatton was warming up for practice ahead of the event when he was seen struggling and in pain. He naturally had to stop his warmup.

While a hand cramp may not sound like a serious injury, it is a big one for golfers as it can impact their grip on clubs and ability to make shots.

The injury comes at a very poor time for Tyrrell Hatton. He just posted a brilliant -12 at the Players Championship and would have won if not for more Scottie Scheffler brilliance.

When asked about his improved performances recently, Hatton admitted he wasn't in a good place last year (via BBC):

"I think that was part of my struggles last year, when I got into some fairly bad habits with diet and various liquids that didn't really help with performance. I think that definitely played a part. You know, just not feeling all that comfortable in my own body."

Hatton added:

"I think that's a huge thing for anyone. If you're comfortable in your own skin, you're in a better place and certainly playing professional golf, if you're in a good place it's easier to go out and play well."

Hopefully, the hand cramp isn't serious and Tyrrell Hatton can continue his upward trajectory.

Tyrrell Hatton was surprised by his performance at the Players Championship

After his stunning second-place finish, Tyrrell Hatton was asked if he expected to finish second to Scheffler at the Players Championship. He said (via Sky Sports):

"No, especially with how I was hitting it off the tee on the front nine! Yeah, just pretty mad two and a half hours in the end, I guess, from standing on the 10th tee. Really happy with how it's played out. Yeah, good day's work. If you had said that you would finish second in the tournament and you don't have to play the back nine, I think you would take that!"

The 31-year-old added:

"I made a comment at the start of this week that after being in the tournament at Bay Hill for as long as I was on Sunday, to only end up with 110 [FedExCup] points was disappointing."

Hatton was disappointed with his performance ahead of his run at TPC Sawgrass:

"Every year we're all trying to earn as many points as we can. This year's no different. It might be sixth counting FedEx event of the season, so I'm playing catch-up to a lot of guys that have played quite a bit of golf already."

Nevertheless, Tyrrell Hatton was able to bounce back and play well. Hopefully, this hand cramp won't derail him as he has been on a nice run. If he can return to Match Play, he's a good bet to make a good run once again.
