Viktor Hovland is set to compete in the 2025 U.S. Open, taking place from June 12 to 15 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. He’ll be aiming for a stronger showing at the major this year after missing the cut at last year’s edition of the tournament.
Just like all other professional golfers who will be competing at Oakmont, Hovland has reached the greens to kick start the US Open week. And he is looking forward to competing at Oakmont.
Hovland shared a picture of himself on Instagram entering the course with a bag. He was sporting an orange sweatshirt, paired with shorts. In the caption, expressing his excitement for the third Major of the season, he wrote:
“US Open, we’re back!”
Viktor Hovland has experienced a mix of highs and lows in his appearances at the U.S. Open, a major that has consistently tested his resilience and skill. Since making his debut in the championship, Hovland has shown flashes of brilliance, but he has also faced challenges on some of golf’s toughest stages.
In 2019, Hovland recorded his best finish at the U.S. Open, tying for 12th as the low amateur. The following year, in 2020, he finished T13. Since then, he has not been able to finish in the top 15, and has missed two cuts.
The 2024 U.S. Open proved to be a tough outing for him. Despite a solid second round of 68, his opening 78 left him outside the cut line at 6-over par. As Hovland prepares for the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont, he’ll look to build on his past experiences and return to contention on one of golf’s biggest stages.
How has Viktor Hovland’s 2025 season been so far?
