WATCH: Rory McIlroy's dad dazzles with an impressive chip shot at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

The 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is underway at three iconic and beautiful golf courses - Old Course at St. Andrews, Carnoustie, and Kingsbarn. This year's edition of the event features some of the best professional golfers and celebrities who have teamed up with them.

However, in Rory McIlroy's case, the Irishman teamed up with his dad, Gerry, who dazzled with an impressive chip shot in Round 1 of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. On the par-4 7th hole, Gerry McIlroy hit a brilliant chip shot from outside the green, and the ball found its way into the hole.

Gerry's chip shot on the 7th hole also received appreciation from the commentator, who exclaimed, "Oh Gerry, what a shot!" After hitting the shot, Gerry was seen sporting a smile, happy with his effort. Gerry and Rory McIlroy made their debut at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2009.

However, it must be noted they have yet to win the event. The pair came extremely close to winning in 2019 but eventually finished second behind Tommy Fleetwood and Ogden Phipps II. It will be interesting to see if Rory and his father can win the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship for the first time this year as the play progresses.
