The 2024 Sony Open, the season opener for a majority of the pro golfers, kicked off on 11 January at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii. The field of 144 players will be playing for a prize purse of $8.3 million, hoping to make the cut after the second round of the tournament.

Si Woo Kim is the defending champion of the tournament and is currently in the field. Kim faces stiff competition from Ludvig Aberg, Tyrrell Hatton, and Matt Fitzpatrick this year. Alongside them, Will Zalatoris, who is making his comeback, is also a favorite to win the tournament. Chris Kirk, the winner of the 2024 Sentry, is also in the field and will be vying for a back-to-back win.

The total prize purse for the 2024 edition has been increased from the previous year and now sits at a whopping $8.3 million. From that, the winner will take home $1.494 million.
