Who is leading the 2024 Dana Open after Day 1? Leaderboard explored

Round 1 of the 2024 Dana Open saw Hye-Jin Choi of South Korea take the sole lead with a score of -7. The 24-year-old golfer is on the lookout for her first win on the LPGA Tour. She has 13 professional wins, 12 of them on LPGA of Korea Tour. The tournament is being played at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio.

Hye-Jin Choi carded a bogey-free 64 in the first round of the 2024 Dana Open. She scored seven birdies on 1st, 2nd, 5th, 8th, 9th, 17th, and 18th holes. Talking about her first round, Choi said (via LPGA):

“It was really great day. I started a little weird, like my shot was not really great, so I try just to make the par. Try that until 7, and then I make the birdie on 8, so I think, oh, I can do very better."

Aditi Ashok and Xiyu Lin are tied for the second position at the 2024 Dana Open with a score of 6 under. After the first round, Lin said (via LPGA):

"I think today I played solid. I took the last two weeks off trying to sharpen my game a little bit. I think today I was a little tight at the beginning, but I had some amazing shots. I holed out in the bunker twice. Almost like two impossible shots to hole out. That's a bit of luck."

Defending Champion Linn Grant also had a strong start. She carded 4-under 67 in the first round. The winner of the tournament will take home $262,000 of the total prize money of $1.75 million.
