His score of 13 under 131 tied the Hero World Challenge record for 36 holes. The record was set by Tiger Woods in 2007 at Sherwood Country Club. Here's what Scheffler had to say about his performance (via AFP):"Pretty comfortable with my start lines all day. Made some important ones out there to keep the momentum of the round going. Overall pretty pleased so far with the results."However, the windy conditions forecast for the weekend could make it difficult for Scheffler to continue his record-setting run at the Hero World Challenge."A lot of it here is just keeping the ball in play. When it gets windy, it can be pretty challenging to putt these greens because they can be pretty fast. They can be difficult to read and as the winds pick up, you start missing fairways, you can get into some pretty bad spots around here," he added.Akshay Bhatia is the only rookie to stay in contention in the second round of the tournament. Bhatia carded seven birdies and one bogey to climb into a share of second place.Justin Thomas carded six birdies and one bogey to remain tied for second. Keegan Bradley had the same score, but with five birdies and no bogeys, he climbed four places to tie for fourth.Sepp Straka and Sungjae Im complete the top-5 after both shot identical 4-under scores in the second round.
