Who is Victor Perez's caddie in 2023? Exploring facts about the French golfer’s bagman

Victor Perez's caddie is James Erkenbeck, a former professional golfer who went on to play on the DP World Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, and PGA Tour Canada. Although it is uncertain when their player-caddie relationship began, it is certain that Perez and Erkenbeck were teaming up at least since September 2022.

At 33 years old, James Erkenbeck has had a long career associated with golf, which undoubtedly gave him the opportunity to be hired as Victor Perez's caddie. The two coincided as alumni at the University of New Mexico, which may also have played a role in Erkenbeck eventually taking over Perez's bag.

During the 2022-23 season, Victor Perez's caddie took part, along with his player, in three PGA Tour tournaments. Perez made the cut in all three and his best finish was a T13 at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans. Currently, Perez is ranked 66th in the OWGR.

Meanwhile, Victor Perez and James Erkenberck have competed in five tournaments this season on the DP World Tour. In January, Perez won the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, and his previous finishes include T9 at the DS Automobiles Italian Open, T13 at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, T28 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, and T31 at the WGC - Dell Technologies Match Play.

James Erkenbeck's Golf Career

Current Victor Perez's caddie, James Erkenbeck, played golf from an early age. He made a career in college golf, playing for the University of New Mexico Wolves for four seasons (2008-13).

At this stage, he has participated in 53 tournaments, with an average score of 72.25 strokes per round. He won four tournaments and his best average score was his senior season (71.21). His lowest round as a collegian was 65 strokes and he was ranked 27th in the category.

Current Victor Perez's caddie turned professional in 2014. He played 21 tournaments on the PGA Tour Canada between 2015 and 2016, where he reached two Top 10s as part of his 10 cuts passed. His best result was the T8 achieved at the GolfBC Championship.

In the Korn Ferry Tour, he played just three tournaments and in none of them, he was able to make the cut.

On the other side of the ocean, he participated in 22 DP World Tour tournaments between 2018 and 2019, where he again coincided with Victor Perez. There, James Erkenbeck participated in 22 tournaments between 2018 and 2019, achieving two Top 10s. His best result at this level was the T4 achieved at the 2018 First Stage Europe Section D Bom Sucesso.
