Who won the 2024 BMW PGA Championship? Final leaderboard explored

The 2024 BMW PGA Championship concluded on Sunday, September 22 at The Wentworth Club in Surrey, England. The event saw a heart-stopping finish and the crowning of a former champion who set a record for the event.

Billy Horschel defeated Thriston Lawrence and Rory McIlroy in an epic playoff to win the BMW PGA Championship. Horschel becomes the first American to win the event multiple times.

The tension was palpable at the end of the fourth round of the BMW PGA Championship. Thriston Lawrence was the sole leader with two holes to play, and he parred both to take a two-shot lead over Billy Horschel and Rory McIlroy while they were still in contention.

Horschel birdied the last two holes to force a playoff and McIlroy did the same with an eagle on the 18th. On the first playoff hole, Lawrence bogeyed the first, while McIlroy and Horschel hit birdies.

On the second playoff hole, the tournament was decided. McIlroy birdied the hole, but Horschel drained a 30-foot putt for eagle and the victory. It is the American's second title at the event, having won it in 2021.
