Last year, Schauffele won two major championship titles - the PGA Championship and the Open Championship. He is yet to win the US Open but was tied for third place in 2019. That same year, he also tied for second place in the Masters Tournament at Augusta National.

This year, the San Diego-born golfer will attempt to claim a third major title in the 2025 US Open. When speaking to the media about the setup at Oakmont, he said (via ASAP Sports):

“I don't think people turn the TV on to watch some of the guys just hit like a 200-yard shot on the green, you know what I mean? I think they turn on the U.S. Open to see a guy shooting 8-over and suffer. That's part of the enjoyment of playing in the U.S. Open for viewers.”

Xander Schauffele also called the tournament a “challenge.” He further shared that he intends to challenge himself to be disciplined and hit every fairway and every green on the course.

Interestingly, Schauffele has had a stellar record in the US Open so far. He has made eight US Open starts and has never finished outside the top-15 position.
