Scan shows no new injury, says Rory Mcllroy

McIlroy intends to play the BMW PGA Championship next week

Rory McIlroy carded a 75 on Sunday at the Players Championship to finish with a total of 2-over 290 for the week, which took him to T35 overall. McIlroy, however, commented that he might have aggravated his previous injury by practising for three days in a row to get prepared for the Players Championship.

In a recent interview, McIlroy said that his “MRI scan shows no new injury but he suffers from, a low-grade response to the rib joint I injured earlier in the year”. This is good because there is no new injury, but it will clearly affect his practice schedule. McIlroy also mentioned that his pain was slowly subsiding but he still requires some rest. The Northern Irishman went home after experiencing slight pain during the Players Championship to get checked by his doctor back home.

“It’s obviously not 100%, But it’s good enough to get myself around here for the next couple of days,” he said.

McIlroy intends to play the BMW PGA Championship, the European Tour’s flagship event next week, followed by the Memorial Tournament prior to the U.S. Open.
